To a compulsive computer wallpaper changer, finding the right desktop image is paramount, and for a fan of Lexus, no site has a greater collection than Car Walls.

The collection of Lexus wallpapers here is strictly high quality, sourced from the official Lexus sites. As new models replace old, the desktop images would disappear from the official sites, so it’s nice to have the full array to choose from. Every post-2000 model is covered, with multiple images of each.

The site isn’t limited to Lexus, either, with practically every car company represented to the fullest.

Site of the Week: Autopia

If you’re anything of a car buff, and I’m going to assume you are, you’ve probably already come across this week’s site: Autopia. In a nutshell, it’s the place to go when you want to get your car in tip-top shape, inside and out.

When I bought the Lexus last year, I spent days here, finding out the best way to take care of my new purchase. Several hundred dollars later, I had a machine buffer and so many different polishes and waxes my girlfriend thought I was going insane.

Of course, and I’m sure it happens to everyone who frequents this site, I debated becoming a professional detailer. Clients were easy to find, and within weeks I was polishing swirls from Jaguars and Range Rovers. It was then I learned a valuable lesson: It’s never as much fun as taking care of your own car.

The best place to start, if you’re a beginner, is with their amazing tutorial section. Then, once you’re read up on the basics of detailing, dive into their extensive forums, spend some time admiring the Click & Brags, and search for any question that crosses your mind. Believe me, the answer is there. It always is.

Site of the Week: LexLS.com

For any old-school LS 400 owners handy with a torque wrench and a willingness to get their hands dirty, there is no site better than Lexls.com:

This site is jampacked with a range of useful information, with everything from changing your oil to replacing your timing belt/water pump. Each tutorial is extremely well written and features photos of every step along the way.

This site gets my highest recommendation, it’s a labor of love for the author, and it shows on every page.

(Owning a first-gen LS, I’ve used the tutorials for a few small things, like cleaning the air filter, but because of time and space constraints, I leave most of the other stuff to my trusty mechanic.)

Site of the Week: Club Lexus

One of the best things about being a car owner in the Internet age is access to people who know far more about your car than you do, and are willing to share their knowledge and help you at any turn.

There are plenty of Lexus enthusiast forums online, but one stands heads above the rest, Club Lexus:

The forums are broken up by model, and every area of the site could easily stand on its own. As a whole, it’s a dominating knowledgebase for any conceivable Lexus question.

There was nowhere more helpful while researching the purchase of my LS 400, and it’s the first place I turn to whenever I have a problem, or when I want to gauge the reaction of the Lexus community.

It’s an invaluable resource, and one I count on every day.

New Feature: Site of the Week

July 13th, 2007   Filed under:  Site of the Week, Site News

Today marks the beginning of a new feature: Site of the Week.

There’s a multitude of valuable websites out there, and it’s going to be hard choosing just one a week. Admittedly, they won’t all be exclusively Lexus, but each one will relate back to our favourite car brand.

If you have any suggestions, please contact me, I’d be happy to hear them.
