Job Design, a Japan tuning firm specializing in Lexus & Toyota modifications, has released a new body kit for the Lexus LS, consisting of front wheel vents, a super-dropped suspension and new front & rear bumpers:
I think it’s only natural, in light of the LS’ rather somber and elegant design, that body kit manufacturers would feel the need to gussy it up, but surely there’s a better option than making it look like a mix between VIP & Buick.
It’s coming close to four months since the FiveAxis Lexus Project IS-F show car appeared at SEMA, but this is the first time I’ve actually seen it in motion:
Just looking at photos, it was hard to really get a sense of how wide this kitted-out IS-F really is, or how low it sat. Another thing that I found impressive about the car in motion is the wheel effect, it’s practically impossible to see the rims at all, revealing only the massive brake rotors.
In the interview, FiveAxis owner Troy Sumitomo also mentions that there’s some IS-F performance parts in the works, though it seems like they missed the Detroit Auto Show deadline.
William Stern, the in-house photographer for Sevas, has posted up some shots of a custom Lexus SC 430 on Flickr:
The custom work, including some subtle fender vents and not-so-subtle LED side-step lighting, was done by Cartel Customs in Miami. There’s quite a collection of photos in William’s Flickr stream, be sure to check them out for more detail.
Update: Here’s the very same car in a video, posted to Youtube:
The Lexus Project IS-F by FiveAxis is moving its way up the west coast, making the trip from SEMA in Las Vegas to the LA Auto Show, where it was photographed in depth by Autoblog.
There’s also been mention of a “Stage 2″ IS-F engine mod package being developed by FiveAxis, though there’s nothing in the way of details, other than that it might be ready for the Detroit Auto Show in January.
I’ll admit it, I was sitting on posting this GReedy tuned Lexus GS 430 from SEMA in the hopes that it would disappear, but it’s time to admit defeat.
Beyond the gaudy stickers and coffee-can exhaust tips, there’s a supercharger under the hood, though no horsepower figures were released. If there’s one thing about this car that works, it’s those rims, they’re a perfect match.
Really, you have to feel bad for both GReedy and Blitz, both released superchargers for the 4.3L engine, which was just replaced by the upgraded 4.6L engine in the GS 460.
Check out the photo gallery for more sticker action:
The tuned Lexus GS 430 by Blitz, created for SEMA, is a real sleeper. Done up in a tasteful custom body kit, the real action is under the hood, where Blitz equipped the GS with a supercharger, boosting the V8 up 73hp to 363hp total.
I’m really digging the embedded supercharger control in the console, which allows for three settings: off, low & high. Also included is a perfomance monitoring system, built to display through the nav screen.
Here’s the Lexus LS 460 by VIP Auto Salon that’s now showing at SEMA 2007, which is basically an application of the Wald International kit, right down to the Portofino wheels.
Additionally, the Dakota Digital Air Ride System was installed, allowing for direct manipulation of the car’s height, making it easy to VIP your wheels on command.
The 714 Motorsports/MOMO Lexus RX 400h has been revealed at SEMA, and as expected, it’s a full-on cosmetic overhaul. The RX has been dropped, kitted, and outfitted with an interior makeover.
However, the mesh grille, roof rack, and slightly lowered stance make up a package that resembles an overgrown Pontiac Vibe. The wheels are fantastic but out of place, and the interior is over the top sporty.
Decide for yourself, though, here’s some photos to browse:
Wald International has updated its website with Lexus IS Body Kit photos, and they’re surely a sight for sore eyes.
When it debuted in August, the only official photos featured the car wet, of all things, and were certainly not up to their usual quality. As well, they hightlighted a number of unflattering characteristics, particularly the sidesteps and rear underspoiler:
But with these new images, all blacked out and digitally doctored, the results are equal parts menacing & sporty, and the 19″ Wald Portofino rims complete the picture.
At first, the latest part in my Lexus Body Kit Series seemed to be taking the same road as my last feature, the ES 350, which yielded no kits at all. However, it turns out that there are a couple body kits for the GX 470.
Two of the kits come from Toyota, built for the Japanese-GX 470 equivalent, the Land Cruiser Prado, yet despite the manufacturer, both are rather underwhelming, and the remaining kit by Jaos is equally so.
Beyond the limited body kit availability, something about the GX seems to defy modification. To be honest, it’s one of my favorites in the current Lexus lineup, and I like it just the way it is. Still, I would definitely fit the factory spoiler, given the choice:
