More 2010 Lexus RX Photos
While last week’s leaked 2010 Lexus RX photos gave us our first peek at the new SUV, the brochure photos were anything but spectacular.
Now we have some new photos to look at, and while they’re still of uneven quality, they capture the RX in real life:

I remain incredibly impressed with the new model, it’s a fantastic progression from the outgoing model. Now that I’ve examined it in more detail, I’m seeing a lot more IS than I initially thought, though I still think the main inspiration was the LX.

These are great pictures!
-So let me see…evolutionary, of course.
-The headlights look like they’re from a Corolla.
-Lexus really should debut the RX hybrid first, even if it’s a matter of seconds during the press…because of the headlights.
- I’m really liking the dash!
- Confused over whether the outgoing model has a better looking door or this new one
- I’m really curious into how that Lexus iDrive works.
- I like what the new position of the wing mirrors do to the interior.
What I have to say about Lexus’ L-finesse design in its production vehicles is that I love its subtle details. Bland is sloooooowwwly starting to ease its way out of the list of adjectives that describe the brand Lexus, as a whole.
I’m really hoping that Lexus doesn’t exit from its L-finesse phase, as rumors have reported. ’cause I mean, they just began…and there are a lot of room for greater expectations and improvements for the current design philosophy.
Hopefully, in the next decade and a half, the whole Lexus range can finally become a lineup of artistic masterpiece

you guys seriously think that looks good? I’ll reserve my final judgment until I get to see this in person, so far, it’s pretty disappointing on pictures. what’s with the tiny little window next to the side mirror? that’s like Tinter’ nightmare and extra cost for the consumer.
it now looks like a Mazda from the rear and no touchscreen just makes it completely off my list for future purchase.

lol…I wanted to be a little optimistic, but if you want me the be frank, I’d be fine…
This RX as a whole…is…VERY, VERY, VERY disappointing.

Looks pretty nice to me. I was expecting an evolutionary, not revolutionary approach to the 3rd RX…why mess with a winning design? Look at how little the 3-series has changed in its latest gen, outwardly. Maybe Lexus designers were more cautious this time around but the car so far looks modern and clean, with a rather futuristic interior.

the only thing i don’t like is the round fuel door thing, i like the current rounded square a lot better.

Wow, that totally looks like the Mazda CX-7/9 from the rear. Not that Mazda isn’t that bad, but if you’re paying a premium for a luxury brand like Lexus, you’d expect a distinct design.

I kinda like the idea of having a full armrest/center console like in the Lexus sedans. It would be nice to have. And I really like the interior.

I agree with dru. When the prototypes came out, I said the rear is looks like a Mazda, which is not a good sign. Look closely at the rear tail lights. It also has a similar shape to lights of the first gen RX. Oh and one more thing, side doors are too plain. Please Lexus! Put some more emotion to this car. Make it stunning. But, I guess its too late. Sigh.

remove the damn shifter from the dash… put it where it is in all the rest of the models yeesh, how hard is it to have it that way!

The rear is a bit too Mazda-ish.
Other than that, it’s about what you’d expect from an evolutionary design. No, it’s not as cool looking as the concept.
But seriously–when do you ever see a prototype design make it all the way to final production without heavy exterior/interior modification? Lexus certainly isn’t the only company guilty of such.
Of course it’d be nice to see them buck that tradition.

So what’s the next one due for a remodel?

Its a very disappointing design,a major step backwards from the excellent current RX. The L-finesse design theme seems to be limited to the Lexus sedans only! New LX,RX & IS C dont have the same originality. Poor details include:
1-The A-pillar quarter window, usually seen in minivans, not high end vehicles.
2-The amorphous looking dash, with its misplaced gear selector& too little wood trim limited to the center console. Interior design has traditionally been a Lexus strength, just compare it to the beautiful symmetrical dash of the LX570.
3-The upper edge of the front grille meeting the headlights looks like something a 9-year old would draw, just a bit immature.
There’s no way I would consider owning one of these. Guess ‘L-finesse’ may be short lived after all.

I thought the RX will have the LED-Frontlight from the ls600h …
November 15th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
It will. that’s the RX 350.

Where is the chrome door handles with the buttons???
November 25th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
I saw and drove the new 2009 Toyota Venza which is almost the same car as the 2010 Rx350…and priced about $6000 less. The question is: what features will there be in the Lexus RX that will justify spending $6000 more on the Rx?

I don’t really see a difference in terms of the exterior. It looks practically the same.
