Video of the 2010 Lexus RX Prototype

My least favorite German car magazine Auto Motor Und Sport has scooped up some footage of the next-generation Lexus RX making its way around Nürburgring:

Can't say this was something I would have ever expected to see, an RX on the 'ring. One thing's for sure, I don't ever want to see an RX going that fast again. The whole time on the track, and all I was worried about were the kids in the back seat.

maybe it is the rx-f lol.

7 more months to go.

It should be interesting if the hybrid gets a nice power boost to 370 hp or something, so that could be considered the RX-F and with an mpg combined around 20-25.

Hopefully the normal RX gets a boost to 306-310 hp and mpg combined around 30.

all we have to do is weight for the new GX, IS coupe/convertible, SC and LF-A (GT-F) and Lexus will be in business.

That was painful to watch. The RX was really struggling to hold through the curves.

You'd almost wonder if it was the RX-F until you see it wobble around the corners. ;-)

And yeah, I definitely think there's a HP bump on the way.

It sounds like a TIE Fighter from Star Wars going around those curves lol.

ThatGuy: That's what I thought too, but I think it's actually other cars on the track making all the racket. ;-)

Was sad to see that the next gen will NOT look too much like the concept with the super high door sills and super low cut roofline. Moms everywhere would have been aghast. Actually, we all KNOW that this is LEXUS' #1 seller, they wouldn't dare alter it too radically for fear of jeopardizing sales. Just enough of a tweak that country club moms will just "have to have one."

Anon: I wouldn't necessarily consider this the final shape/exterior design of the new RX, there's every possibility that more LF-Xh design cues will be incorporated.

Certainly looks that way to me....Lexus apparently doesn't want to stay away from the design of top-selling car family new model.
