2008 Lexus GS Facelift Revealed

Lexus has announced that the 2008 Lexus GS 450h will be debuting at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. In preparation of the event, a press photo, shown above (higher resolution here), has been released, revealing the expected front-end redesign that will be applied to all GS models.
The changes are subtle, but numerous. First off, the headlights have been ever-so-slightly tweaked, and look to be expanded by mere milimeters. The bottom grille has a new design, and the entire under bumper has been deepened and given some additional height. The most noticeable difference to the front-end, though, is the new chrome surrounding the grille, which has been extended significantly on each side. Also added are embedded turn signals in the rear view mirrors.
The new bumper is a nice change, as are the tweaked headlights, but the chrome extension diminishes the foglights, which I feel is the most distinct GS feature. Still, as is the case with most redesigns, I'll have to see it in person before I can make an accurate assessment.

I love the face lift, i was more worried about the look than the new engine. I can't wait to get mine!
The facelift certainly improves the look, much more modern and sporty. Funny how small subtle changes can make such a big difference.
Have you decided on a color yet?
Wow this is makes the GS look really aggressive with the sharp crease in the bumper. You are right the small changes make turn the whole personality of the car.
Starfire pearl with black interior is what I am hoping to get, but that combo is hard to come by, I might have to special order it. Now if Lexus would just do the press release and I'll be on my way to the dealer!
@kev:
Nice choice.
Good luck on the exterior/interior combo!
@Jarrett:
With the increase in sharper angles, the GS is finally starting to look like a sport sedan.
The expanded chrome trim surrounding the grille is really growing on me, and I find myself wishing they hadn't stopped the redesign at the rear view mirrors, these little tweaks make a world of difference.
Ya the rear could of used a refreshen tail lights but it still will not look that bad i suppose. Good work autoblog has also picked up the story and has metioned the passionate pursuit. Keep up the good work
Why Why Why does the 2007 have a cassette player and no audio (Ipod) input.. Hopefully this matter will be corrected in 2008 and I will buy.
