More Information on the 2009 Lexus RX
Today is full of next-gen RX news, this time from Auto Express. There's the rather swell artist rendering (shown above), along with some speculation on the spy shots released last week:
At first glance, it looks like any other RX, but close inspection reveals that the rear lights no longer sit flush with the bodywork. That’s because the panels have been widened to account for the new platform’s bigger dimensions. This added size could pave the way for an optional third row of seats, which would put the Lexus up against BMW’s X5 when it arrives in dealers in 2009.
Judging from the other set of spy shots released today, it's hard to tell if there's enough to accommodate a third row of seating.
Another interesting fact from the Auto Express article is that Toyota will be eliminating the Harrier name in Japan, meaning that the next-gen RX will be released as a Lexus. I wonder how the lion-man will react?

I'm being told that Lexus dealerships are being held in the dark so they can push the 2008 inventory out the door, and whispers that Lexus will unveil the new model at the Chicago Auto Show
chicagotiger: While I hope I'm wrong, the 2009 RX 350 prices were announced by Lexus, which makes me think the 2009 model will be status quo, meaning the redesign will be pushed to 2010.
Here's hoping for the next-gen RX in Chicago!
My friend works for lexus the 2009 new bodystyle RX's will be available 2/26/08 in PA and all across the country they have pushed up the allocation and the new RXs will be out soon
Hmm, I'm thinking that Lexus is waiting until the 2010 model year for the next RX. New colors and all, and sales still strong...
I'd have to agree with Dan on this one, especially with pricing already announced for the 2009 RX 350.
Also, I'd be surprised if the new, larger model was introduced without at least a minor boost in engine power, which to me would indicate a numeric change in the RX name.

Kinda like the black one! Toyotas new Venza is hitting the market is Sept this year. Looks something like the Lfx proto. A bit squarer though. Maybe the NY auto show will show us something?
ok gang forget anything new for 2009 just got email from lexus on the 2009 rx. Nothing! has changed I guess we have to wait for 2010:(

i’ve just attended the Perth international auto show and been told by a lexus official that the new rx will be released in Australia MARCH 2009. starting price for a sports lux will be at 97,000.00 Aussie Dollars.
Yes I went to the same show and recieved the same info. I Checked with my dealer and they said they cant confirm the price. But Confirmed its next year for release.
Hi. We are looking into buying a lexus RX350. We are curious if anyone knows anything about the 2010. I know that the 2009 are the same as the 2008. Any thoughts on design, milage, appearance etc? Thanks
